Orphaned at the age of 9, Bach and his brother were raised by an older brother. The Bach family was known for their musical abilities, and Johann was the most gifted of all the 8 Bach children. In his lifetime, Bach was better known as an organist than a composer. He is considered to be the best composer of the Baroque era, and one of the most important figures in classical music in general.
Widely considered as the world's greatest novelists, Tolstoy was born in Russia to a well-known family of old Russian nobility. Tolstoy and his siblings were raised by relatives. He studied law and oriental languages, but his tudors described him as 'unwilling and unable to learn'. Tolstoy began writing around the time he joined the army, and later in life became a Christian anarchist.
Jobs was adopted at birth by a couple that couldn't bear children. Together with his father, Jobs worked on electronics in the family garage, pulling apart and rebuilding televisions and radios. He developed a hobby in technical tinkering, and went from there to forming Apple Computers in his parents garage with a couple of friends in 1976.
