We had not met volunteers quite like these at the Foster Home before. One was from Queensland and the other from Auckland ... yes the first time we'd actually encountered volunteers from Australasia. Of course we had heard stories of others (especially 1 particular Aussie who created a huge fuss) but had not actually met any. Until this particular day.
And what did we talk about with us sitting on the steps and them on the grass? Rugby (of course!); China travels and spending time helping at foster homes & orphanages. What struck the girls the most about this particular Home was the love they saw and experienced. For them it was tangible, something they could feel as well as see in the lives of the staff and children ... and they were moved.
Which led us to talk about the reason for the love, and about the One who IS love. Since they would soon be travelling to help at Orphanages in Nepal and India we offered to pray for them. Which they were happy for us to do; so we did. And we know He will provide more opportunities for them to discover Him on the rest of their journey.
After all, they were sitting on the grass talking to a couple who had travelled all the way to China to be at that particular place at that time. How's that for a Divine appointment?!
